Regional Cooperative in South Dakota seeking a Director of Agronomy. This position develops, implements and communicates Crop Protection strategy and marketing plans and educates internal staff on branded and generic offerings. Responsible for margin management, pricing decisions, budgeting and forecasting. Advises staff on product availability and recommendations while achieving budgeted growth and profitability.
Accountable for the profitability, marketing strategies, and product lineup of crop protection products; collaborates with locations & suppliers on forecasting crop protection needs; Forecasting is a continuing process and frequent communication with sales management and location management will be required; develop and manage vendor relationships and sourcing of Crop Protection products; responsible for risk management as it relates to analyzing market trends to position product lineup; analyze market intelligence and product knowledge to maximize overall profitability; collaborate with the Agronomy Controller to set up accrual system on CPP programs that is accurate and auditable; reconcile program payments with vendors against accruals and forecasted payments working with the Accounting Program Coordinator; ensure that all expected rebates and incentives from suppliers have been received; ensure incoming product is properly documented and invoices are correct according to contract terms and approved for payment; anticipate areas of concern and formulate competent solutions or alternatives.
Qualifications include a college degree in business, agriculture, marketing and 5 years or more of marketing leadership experience (preferably in the Crop Protection Industry) to demonstrate the ability to develop, implement, and execute strategic marketing plans, budgets, and communications. Strong background in crop protection preferred.
