Our client is a family-owned business based in the Thumb of Michigan is looking to add a Crop Consultant to their organization. This agricultural consulting business provides complete crop, soil, and manure management services. They work directly with farmers to provide agricultural consulting services including collecting soil samples and providing fertility recommendations to the farmer. The consultant will provide hard copies to the client and electronic files for variable rate spreading. Field evaluations will be performed, such as soil structure, weed control, disease and insect infestation, plus other issues that could affect crop production.
Responsibilities:
- Give recommendations on Seed, Fertilizer and Chemical inputs
- Continuing education on Agronomy products
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and current customers
- Perform crop scouting
- Manage Irrigation Sensor Clients
- Collect Soil Samples
Requirements:
- Self-motivated and success driven
- 3-5+ years of Agronomy experience preferred
- Degree in Agronomy, Ag Business or related field is highly preferred
- Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) preferred
- Strong work ethic, dependable
- Project management skills
- Microsoft Offices, esp. Excel and Outlook skills
Expectations:
- Focus on learning – being current with industry practices. Training is supported.
- Develop relationships / impact positive outcomes for farmer customers.
- Long days will occasionally be necessary to accomplish goals.
- Can work in physical environment – sample pulling from ATV, in potentially adverse weather.
